Abstract
This paper discusses cooperative learning in the classroom and physical education settings. Theoretical perspectives regarding cooperative learning methods are summarized and several methods used in the classroom and physical education setting are described. In addition, steps to some activities associated with specific cooperative learning methods used in the physical education setting are detailed. The cognitive, social, and motor stages of development are described with particular interest given children in the middle childhood years (approximately 6-11 years of age).
