Effective Project Management (PM) training is a delicate balance between the scholarship of academe and the scholarship of application. Reflective-heuristic practice, crisis management (CM), and the rigor of a Project Management Notebook (PMNB) can be combined with guided simulation to facilitate students becoming effective practitioners in the use of Project Management. The chapter briefly explores reflective practice, crisis management, and the PMNB as tools for achieving that end. A ten-week simulation that has proven effective in teaching students how to project the application in problem solving efforts is described.
