Abstract
This paper is a review of research studies that focused on sexual violence towards todays modern women. Sexual violence towards women is a continuing problem with no real solution. This paper reviews different research studies that acknowledged sexual violence towards women and narrowing it down to find a connection between income, unemployment, and male control that relates to sexual violence. The review found that there is a link to income and violence, but not so consistent with sexual violence. While men may be unemployed does mean they will become violent but in their nature still need to have control over women. Concluding with that while men are unemployed, so long as their spouses have a job that keeps them healthy, men are content. While in some intimate relationships, if the woman is the financial breadwinner, she is at a greater risk of violence from their spouse, but not necessarily sexual violence. But men, who seek to support their male dominance, can still inflict sexual abuse to have the control and power over women.
