Abstract

This is a comprehensive study on the age of dried blood using a multitude of different surface types. If the age of a blood stains could accurately be determined it could assist the forensic science community tremendously. If investigators could utilize a tool to accurately pinpoint the time of deposition it could allow for the inclusion or elimination of suspects, it could identify a timeline of events. This advancement could benefit death investigations or even missing persons to narrow down when this person got injured or murdered and eventually could help better the time of death estimations, among a multitude of other advancements that we do not have today. After close analysis and numerous hours of research, an experiment was conducted and it was found that the age of a dried blood stains indeed can be determined based on the analysis of the color of the blood.
