Abstract

This study attempts to examine the relationship in preferred and perceived leadership behaviors and satisfaction with leadership in Dental Hygiene students. The reasons for studying the relationship between leader behavior and group satisfaction are very practical. Too many instructors still use criticism instead of positive, constructive feedback ignoring morale. This can lead to individual dissatisfaction which can affect team cohesion. Social support is often limited or completely absent. Students want a rewarding environment where they can feel challenged and gain confidence in new skills. Member satisfaction can be an important influence on group environment and performance. A group's leader is in a position to strongly influence change in team members. This relationship will be demonstrated through a correlation study.
