Abstract

Given that the web and its sites are continuously changing, this project reviews the best web evaluation practices used by museums to improve their websites. The virtual and physical spaces draw similar comparisons when evaluating the visitor, but the biggest difference is the ability to see who is exploring and to have a stronger idea as to motivations he or she brings. Understanding and knowing the best practices available is essential because as the Internet becomes intertwined in daily life, the virtual visitor will be a growing audience for museums. Familiarity with different evaluation techniques can ensure that an institution is developing an adequate website. The next few paragraphs will give a quick overview of each chapter of this project.
