Abstract
This study was an attempt to examine the validity of a client satisfaction questionnaire utilizing the outcome statistics of four drug and alcohol treatment programs as a yardstick or criterion of the instrument's validity. It was discovered that the treatment sites in the study did not use the same statistic to measure the outcome of their programs. There were four different yardsticks rather than one. Since there was no standard to judge the validity of the questionnaire, this portion
of the study remains incomplete. However, we were able to utilize the data in a site comparison study and a study of respondents versus non-respondents with respect to client satisfaction questionnaires.
