Abstract

Twenty—two executive coaches and consultants, ranging in age from 31 y.o. to 60y.o., were surveyed. Most held a masters degree (19), 2 held bachelors degrees, and 1 participant was a PhD. The survey was developed by the researcher to assess for efficacy in 9 research areas of executive coaching/ consulting competency. Descriptive statistics revealed that participants rated the field as effective "most of the time", on the 9 areas of competency. The survey was based on a 1-7 Likert-type scale which showed participants answering in the 4.5-5 range. The lowest scores were for R.Q. 6- promoting clients ability to understand diversity ies. The highest scores were for R.Q. 8- improving clients personal behavior styles. T-test analyses found no differences between genders across the 9 areas of competency. ANOVAs were used to detect differences in age, highest degree academic degree, and ethnicity analyses; these analyses also showed no significant differences. Results were discussed and implications were given.
