dc.description.abstractThis proposed research study aims to answer the question: how does political activism and ideology contribute to the resilience of Salvadorian survivors of war and political trauma? It explores the nature of war and political trauma and the anticipated results highlight the importance of political activism as a protective factor in survivors of war and political persecution. A literature review has been included which points to the protective and buffering effects of political ideology in survivors of war. Parallels have been drawn between the psychology of liberation view and the ecological view of psychological trauma as a way to better understand political trauma, the role of political activism, and the importance of collective healing.
