Abstract
It is the purpose of this paper to demonstrate the need of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art fora low-cost, widely distributed publication containing basic data about the Museum. The paper will describe the stages through which the publication passed up to its present state of development. To date, the text of the brochure has been approved by the Museum staff and typeset; the designer has prepared a mock-up showing the cover design, format, and layout of the text material; and the project awaits funding. Discussion will center on such aspects as setting criteria for the brochure; researching, writing, and editing the text; and planning for the graphic design. The roles of various Museum staff members in assisting with the project will also be described.
