Abstract
The objective of studying the MAPS program is to assess the effects it has had on teachers' attitudes about museums and on teacher motivation to utilize museum resources with their classes, and to explore the long-term consequences of a museum and school collaboration after the formal program has concluded. The focus of the study requires that teacher attitudes be measured. It is my thesis that the long-term effects of a museum and school collaboration such as MAPS influence teacher motivation to integrate museum resources into classroom curricula. In determining the effects of MAPS on teachers, it is necessary to inspect teachers' attitudes about utilizing museum resources to be integrated into their classroom curriculum. Assessment of attitudes can be determined by asking such questions as, "How did the MAPS program affect and influence elementary school teacher participants in the planning and implementing of their classroom curriculum during the program?" "Are there lasting effects of MAPS in their classroom curriculum today?" "If so, what are they?" "Did the program change teachers' approaches to teaching or have a lasting impact on teachers' attitudes about museums and museum programs?"
