Abstract
This action research project focuses on the importance of implementing aspects of multicultural education into a schools' curriculum. Since the school in which I teach is very culturally diverse, I found it necessary to try to infuse aspects of multicultural education with my own existing curriculum, so that all students could feel accepted, included, and valued. Throughout the entire school year, I implemented aspects of multicultural education into my curriculum which included the use of projects, culturally diverse groups, multicultural literature, presentations, and writing assignments. My goal was to have a learning environment where students learn by incorporating their own life experiences and by working together as a team. The data collected from observations, reading student reflective journals, and surveys indicate that my project helped students develop a stronger sense of cultural awareness, acceptance, and understanding of people from all cultures. Also, as the months progressed, my studen:s worked better in groups and became more engaged with the learning activities. In this paper, you will read and learn about all the strategies I used for this project and the outcomes.
