Abstract

The issue of partnerships between children's museums and Head Start preschool programs stems from a century-long development and maturation of children's museums, early childhood education and programming, museum-school partnerships, and our nation's attempt to address the diverse educational needs of young children through the development of specialized programs such as Head Start. Partnerships between children's museums and Head Start are an important way for children's museums to fulfill their role of serving diverse and special needs audiences.
