Abstract

Strategic management of The Hayward Area Historical Society's audience will require many changes to the organization's practices. Much of what needs to change is curatorial, but the ways in which these changes will be enacted, and the resources that will be needed to see them through, are administrative. Mission and market are often positioned as opposites in museums, but in this case, the mission must be advanced through the market side of the organization.
