Abstract

The purpose of this master's project is to present guidelines for the organization of a youth advisory group at a children's museum. These guidelines are presented as recommendations and are applicable to children's museums in general. The implementation of this project was guided by the following three objectives: To research the organization and function of existing youth advisory groups in children's museums and other relevant institutions. To study and evaluate the history, organization, and function of the Youth Advisory Council at The Children's Museum of Indianapolis. To write a set of guidelines based upon this primary and secondary research that will enable children's museums to organize their own youth advisory groups.
