Abstract

By utilizing a model of consciousness drawn from the Ageless Wisdom tradition, more specifically, from Theosophical teachings and the writings of Alice Bailey, the thesis demonstrates that the concept of an evolving human consciousness is consistent with major currents of scientific thought and provides the primary basis for resolving the critical social issues which confront a suffering humanity. The thesis asserts that the cultivation of consciousness is the synthesizing force of science, religion, psychology and ethics, and is the moral imperative of all intelligent and compassionate beings.
