Abstract
Data was gathered from 41 adolescent young men, ranging in age from 12 to 18 who live in a residential treatment facility. They were administered the Nowicki Strickland Locus of Control Scale (NSLOCS) and a brief demographic questionnaire. In addition, house parents or residential counselors were administered the Child Behavior Checklist 4/18 (CBCL) to rate the adolescent's behavior. The analyzed data suggested that there was not a significant positive correlation between the external sub-scale of the CBCL and the NSLOCS. In addition, there were no differences in locus of control orientation or in the occurrence of behavior problems when correlated between groups. The information that seemed most useful and interesting was found on the self-report demographic questionnaire.
