Abstract

I hope to deal with the current issues of job stress in nursing and provide an alternative model for looking at job stress in nursing and the ways in which nurses may be dealing with stress. I believe that the project lends itself to the expansion of knowledge in the Consciousness studies field because its intent is to explore and define the mind/body relationship. As we progress toward development of higher consciousness, consciousness of, and attunement with the physical body also develops along parallel lines. To acknowledge the body's responses to stress and successfully deal with those responses is to begin to know ourselves. I shall attempt to add to the existing knowledge in the field, and help to continue the trend which has begun to treat the nurse as a human being with needs of her own which must be met before she can successfully meet the needs of others.
