Abstract
Within the environment and culture of my organization, I believe that an administrator's job is to lead their staff, at all levels, through today's changing and uncertain economy and environment, toward reaching our goals. As a strategic leader I expect to act as problem solver, teacher, auditor and planner. By keeping my focus on the big picture, while organizing and designing a means of getting there, I face the daily challenge of two steps forward and one step back. Successful strategy requires the ability to recognize what is working and what is not and using this knowledge :0 move forward. What has worked for me in the past, when applied to a different community and staff, has often failed to achieve the same results.
While each and every staff member has a unique personality, I find that working with group personalities often lead to difficultly in forging affiances to new concepts and idea. It was not my intention to change the organizational Culture any more than necessary. However, I am finding that "that" is easier said than done. Facilitating a changing and evolving environment is crucial to taking Sunnyside Gardens where I wan: to take it. In addition to my staff, t his is a daily learning experience for me.
