Abstract
Underlying the development of the DEUCE program was the assumption that the law must provide treatment as well as punishment, and if the DEUCE Program is maximally effective it would significantly alter the rates of DUI recidivism and road crashes. This research project represents the first attempt to measure the effectiveness of the DEUCE program, by measuring the rate of recidivism of program Graduates with the rate of recidivism of a control group comprised of men who did not participate in an alcohol recovery program.
