Abstract

The purpose of this masters project was to develop a script for a video on collections management issues for administrators, directors, registrars (or volunteers who fill those roles) and boards of small museums. Specifically, the video will address the problem of getting the collections management issues moved higher on the list of important things to accomplish. Most museum professionals know what to do and how to do it, so the video will not be instructive in scope. There are several published guidelines for assistance and instruction in registration matters available for those who require that information. Instead, in a humorous and non-threatening manner, the video will inspire and encourage the board, staff, and volunteers of small museums to take interest in and responsibility for their collections, and take the appropriate action required for their particular institution.
