Abstract
The objectives. of this thesis are: 1) to design a catalogue worksheet for classification of information that can be used for documentation of a photograph collection: and 2) to establish guidelines indicating what information will be included in each classification and the manner in which it will be recorded. These guidelines will be used to catalogue individual photographs of actors and actresses in the historical collection of The Society of California Pioneers in San Francisco, California.
This study will be conducted in an effort to improve the methods used for the documentation and interpretation of historical photograph collections. Improved methods will increase the value of photograph collections, facilitate historical research, and encourage the public to use the resources provided by the museum.
