Abstract
This project addresses the need for retirement programs for athletes through a discussion of some athletes' personal experiences surrounding their own transition from full-time competition, the athletes' suggestions for what they would like to see in retirement programs, and a recommendation for future research in the area of retirement program development. The data was collected primarily through self-administered retrospective surveys. The data was analyzed through grouping of thematic answers and reviewing athletes suggestions for future retirement programs.
