This study explores the application of response-based theory in working conjointly with couples experiencing intimate partner violence (IPV). Treatment of IPV is complex and prevailing models for treating it have limited effectiveness. In this work, response-based theory is argued to be a helpful approach to treating IPV in couples who seek conjoint treatment. Detailed descriptions of this approach will be applied to a fictional case example to illustrate the possible application of these ideas.
