Abstract
This paper is the product of my research and analysis of the development of corporate art collecting. It begins with an overview of corporate collections nationwide, then focuses on four collections in California. The collections chosen as case studies were subject to the following criteria: They were located in California; They were corporate art collections; and their procedures and personnel were accessible. Library research--which was conducted at the San Francisco Public Library main and business branches, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art library, University of San Francisco library, Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco library, and the Foundation Center library--was supplemented with telephone and personal interviews with and questionnaires submitted to individuals involved with corporate art collecting.
