In organizing what I considered to be the basic materials with which to do this body of work, I put together a set of objects which I have come to recognize as a "kit". This kit is composed of fifty, eight-foot, 4"x4" redwood timbers; one hundred yards of 2 5/8", three-ply rope; fifty-five yards of ½" three-ply rope fragments; and six, 31 x5' canvas hatch covers.
