Abstract
Mitigation of homemade explosives dangers can be improved through implementation of an automated point of sale (POS) program that can help to identify suspicious homemade explosive (HME) precursor purchases. The National Precursor Log Exchange (NPLEx) is a system that is capable of identifying and blocking the sale of pseudoephedrine, a precursor chemical used in the manufacture of methamphetamine. The NPLEx methamphetamine precursor sale tracking system, can be adapted to combat homemade explosives by identifying their precursors at the point of purchase.
