Abstract

My recommendation is that the conservative plan be implemented because it would be the one with the greatest results, and the most simplified plan that can be carried out with the least amount of capitol initially. DMC needs to see change in the shortest amount of time possible and this plan can make that happen. The ideal of implementing culture teams to work throughout the various departments would give DMC a greater impact than if they were to try the traditional method of training the middle managers to work as a change agent alone. By empowering the staff with the ability to control their environment and take part in changing the environment in which they work is a powerful feeling for them. The impact should be measured through regular metrics put in place by H.R., and monitored regularly. Results should begin to take place immediately during the first three months. There should be a lot of catchy phrases that should be heard throughout the hospital if everyone is doing what they were taught in their leadership training classes. "Change and cooperation is more difficult to bring about in union settings. The institutional relationship between labor and management, the long history of conflict and mistrust, management's need to continually reduce costs and maintain and enhance profitability, and the union's role of protecting job security and earning of its members combined to make organization change more difficult."
