Abstract
This final project is directed toward non-professionals involved in the creation of small history museums. Literature in the museum field offers a wide range of information and provides many possible solutions to each problem. However, the determination of the solution appropriate to an individual museum depends on the purpose and goals of that museum and the needs of the community. My goal in this manual is to provide a series of questions with a minimum of explanatory material to aid in the search for appropriate solutions without imposing choices. It is my hope that the questions will help museum founders focus their ideas and guide them in their research for the most suitable purposes and goals for the museum. This manual offers aid to the founding board or staff wishing to professionalize its planning.
