Abstract
The following research on the impact of interventions by the Diagnostic Transition Classroom (DTC) for students with Emotional Disabilities (ED) or Learning Disabilities (LD) is organized in five chapters that include an introduction, a review of literature, research methods, data results/discussion and recommendations. The problem is, despite the emphasis on completing school and the interventions available to students with ED/LD, they are more likely to be involved in the Juvenile Justice System and are more likely to dropout of high school. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the interventions students received from the DTC. The literature review included studies pertaining to students that have been incarcerated, have dropped out of school, and the various methods of interventions utilized in the past. The data for this exploration was obtained from the Juvenile Court and Community Schools Database and analyzed to determine which interventions aided in reducing the recidivism rate of students with ED/LD.
