Abstract

Autism is on the rise, yet little attention is paid to adults with autism. The transition from childhood into adulthood has historically been overlooked; this paper aims to fill the gap. The author has created a program, "Wholism 4 Autism" (MA), which focuses on movement, emotions, environment, and food. Based in Integral Theory, W4A works to create stronger relationships between these four elements, and in doing so, teaches adults with autism about a holistic lifestyle. The author concludes that a reallocation of funds, heightened awareness, and a person-centered approach are required in order to support this growing population.
