Abstract

This paper was written using books and research related to the psychology of people who will take a human life. If social norm and morals dictate that killing is wrong, there becomes a need to override the psychological barriers that prohibit such acts. A case in point would be training soldiers for war. The methods used for altering the mental conflict of interspecies killing have a prolific existence in today's media and video arena. This paper will discuss the effects violence in television, movies and video games on the youth of this country. While much of the research does not show a correlation between media violence and overt acts, there are cases that illustrate a honing of motor skills that facilitate the ability to perform. Chapter One will be an introduction to the topic. The introduction will be followed by the problem statement, purpose and objectives; and rationale of the study. Finally, the definition of terms and research hypothesis will close the chapter. Chapter Two is the literature review. This chapter will review the research conducted during this project. Chapter Three will describe the methodology used to collect research information. Chapter Four will contain the results of the research for the project, and Chapter Five will be the conclusion.
