Abstract

The purpose of this master's project was to write guidelines for the creation of a gallery to teach photographic literacy. Photographic literacy is defined as visual literacy with respect to photographs. Photographic literacy is the ability to read, interpret and analyze a photograph. The objectives of this project were: To define and analyze the terms visual literacy and photographic literacy. To conduct a survey of photography and art institutions that have developed education galleries dedicated to teaching visual literacy. To write guidelines for the establishment of an educational gallery to teach photographic literacy.
