Abstract

This study was designed to test Bandura's (1977) theory of self-efficacy in elite physically-challenged and able-bodied tennis players. Self-efficacy theory predicts that one's efficacy expectations will correlate with actual performances. The findings derived from the post-match questionnaires were found to be significant for both groups. The results of the t-test(s) of the 64 athletes' pre- and post-match questionnaires indicate no significant differences in efficacy between physically-challenged and able-bodied players. The hypothesis was supported as the postmatch questionnaires correlated with the pre-match questionnaires.
