Abstract

Teaching with superheroes and villains can either be a trend or an academic tool that is testable, and measurable, with rigor. This qualitative study examines thirty-seven 8th grade physical science students who created a power point and a comic book as an in-depth study of physics and chemistry. The goal of this research tests if the combination of comic book imagery and science can produce understanding that is interpreted as knowledge. Researchers as well as teachers may incorporate or elaborate on this study to encourage academic acceptance of superhero and villains as part of an educational experience.
