Abstract
This thesis is a six-unit final project in partial fulfillment of a master of arts degree in museum studies with specialization in museology from the Center for Museum Studies of John F. Kennedy University, San Francisco. It is divided into two components. In section one a history of the collection and its relationship to other Asmat collections is provided and is followed by a discussion of the geographic and cultural context of the Asmat artifacts. Section two consists of catalogue entries grouped by object category with a short description of each category preceding the individual catalogue entries.
