dc.description.abstract | This is a story about the Center, about finding one's center and what happens on the way. Shamans are supreme storytellers and the Center of the Cosmos is the place the shaman is to be found. This center is also named the Axis Mundi or NierIka (mirror, sun, womb) where the three worlds, the Under world, Middle world, and Sky Realm meet. The Center is the path, passage and gateway to the Realm of Death. This hole, or void, is the birthgate, a threshold between womb and consciousness; an opening between worlds. Through it the shaman visits the dead so that he might be taught by them, for the dead know everything. | |
