Abstract

This thesis investigates the use of Motivity as a form of Gestalt therapy. Motivity is a movement form that includes the use of low-flying trapezes; it is taught as a personal growth experience. The methodology used is the theory-based evaluation. The theoretical framework of Gestalt therapy is compared with that of Motivity, as well as the application of theory. There is also a comparison of goals, media, and format of the two forms. The findings indicate that Motivity is a form of Gestalt therapy, sharing goals and theoretical framework. The differences are procedural in nature rather than theoretical. Further investigation and study are recommended regarding the broader use of Motivity as therapy.
