Abstract

This study was designed to gain a better understanding of the daily life of an individual recovering from a sport-related injury. A 36 year old female volunteered to participate in a program designed specifically to meet her needs in which the participant and researcher met weekly to discuss issues pertaining to her recovery and implement sport psychology techniques when necessary. To record the participant's thoughts and feelings about events occurring in her life, her level of stress, hours of sleep, and sport psychology techniques used, she completed a daily check sheet and kept a journal throughout her rehabilitation. A number of factors having an influence on her life, during the period of her rehabilitation, were identified. The researcher investigating this study also served as the consultant. Together the participant and consultant developed a program that included such things as performance enhancement techniques to incorporate in rehabilitation and in other areas of life.
