Abstract
Patients with type 2 diabetes require health education in order to become competent in self-management, which is essential to avoid the life-threatening complications of unmanaged diabetes. Current health education is centered around restrictive diets and exercise regimens, which research suggests are ineffective. This paper outlines a series of holistic health education workshops on intuitive eating as an alternative to ineffective approaches. The course series emphasizes modifying eating behavior based on awareness of internal signals of hunger, fullness, and satisfaction. Joyful movement is presented as an alternative to unpleasant exercise
