| dc.description.abstract | Alpine Special Treatment Center, Inc. (ASTCI) is a 24-hour mental health care facility located in Alpine, CA. ASTCI specializes in quickly stabilizing patients and rehabilitating them for discharge back to the community. This 100% tobacco free facility is located 30 miles East of San Diego in the foothills of the San Diego Mountains. The center provides 24-hour care by licensed nurses and specialized staff; in a peaceful and therapeutic environment. By combining the efforts of professionals, families, and caregivers, ASTCI has a history of successfully transitioning patients back to a healthy and independent lifestyle. ASTCI has agreed to sponsor PM Solutions for this project. The problem that ASTCI is currently facing has to do with scheduling and communication within the company. Being a 24- hour facility makes it hard for administration to communicate with its employees during the off hours. As a result, scheduling training sessions for ASTCI staff has become a problem. Currently, ASTCI schedules its training sessions by word of mouth. An administrator will plan a training session with the help of managerial staff. From there, it is up to the managers to inform the staff that they oversee. This has left ASTCI staff a lot of room for miscommunication and excuses. Many of the training sessions are planned, but no one shows up. The biggest excuse is never getting the invitation to training. This has caused ASTCI to lose time and money on training sessions that have little to no attendance. In addition, staff has fallen behind in their training and administration has a hard time keeping track of which staff members need training. These training sessions are important to ASTCI because they keep the company care standards up to date and keep ASTCI in compliance with regulatory requirements. The solution proposed by PM Solutions entails implementing shared calendars that can be accessed by staff from any computer; on or off the premises. These calendars can also be accessed via any mobile device. This solution will be implemented using a cloud service, hosted by Microsoft, which is named Exchange Online. Exchange Online can be implemented quickly and at a low cost. Administration is handled primarily by Microsoft and training materials and support are readily available within the application itself. The user interface for Exchange Online utilizes Microsoft Outlook. This will allow ASTCI administration to create calendars, schedule and keep track of training sessions, and to send and receive email invitations throughout the company. Since Exchange Online is hosted in the cloud, ASTCI staff can receive emails and view their training schedules at any time and from any computer or mobile device; whether at work or at home. The security provided by Exchange Online will ensure that ASTCI remains in compliance with all applicable standards and regulations. This solution will be implemented using the current ASTCI computer network and mobile devices in use by administrative staff. ASTCI administrators will be trained to use the application, and assisted in training the remaining staff. It is PM Solutions’ goal that this project be integrated quickly, at a low cost to ASTCI, and with little disruption to the current working environment. | |
