Abstract

This project focuses on the Nonglumduan Farm Company (NFC), located in the province of Chonburi near Bangkok, the capital city of Thailand. The company, based on egg business is in need of improvement in certain areas. This paper considers two aspects. The first is the problems cited in the company and the second is the steps undertaken for resolving these problems. There is an increasing demand in the rate of consumption of eggs in Thailand. Because of this demand, it is important to look out for opportunities to expand the business by implementing an effective production plan. This production plan involves the construction of three new evaporation houses, which helps to house more chickens and thus increases the rate of production of eggs. It helps to gain more profits and market share from the industry. Due to the present layout of the company, the cost incurred in transporting the eggs between departments is high. It is also difficult to carefully move the eggs from one department to the other, without any damage. Hence, a new layout can be designed for the company by using the relationship chart. The company does not have a good system to detect the number of eggs that are defected. This process of detection is important, to save the remaining eggs in the Nonglumduan Farm Company. Hence, the Pareto Analysis is used to determine the number of defected eggs. The chickens in the farm company are mostly affected by the disease named Salmonella. This disease affects the chickens at every stage of its lifecycle. Hence, a precautionary principle is analyzed to reduce this disease in chickens. The Nonglumduan Farm Company has to provide its chicken a clean environment, which can be done by converting the chicken droppings into electric energy. These improvements carried out in this project, focuses on goals to be attained in the next two years. The Nonglumduan Farm Company can result in benefits, with a better facility and improved processes.
