The purpose of this study is to examine the advantages and disadvantages of the effects of daylight in museums. This master's project investigates the use of daylighting sources in museums as well as their application combined with traditional electric lighting sources. The product of this study is The San Francisco Booklet of Daylight. It was designed to facilitate museum professionals' understanding of daylighting and to help them consider the potential use of daylight in their buildings. This project explores the most recent discoveries in the daylighting field as well as interactions with electrical lighting sources already available, including the latest fiber optics and other similar lighting devices.
