Abstract

This document addresses-the importance of considering the historical and tr-aditional aspects of an organization's internal environment in order to fully understand the influence an organization's culture has on its members. Information on this subject was obtained through literature research, questionnaire surveys,. and personal interviews with selected individuals. Present within an organization's environment are unspoken rules, assumptions, values, and norms. Conclusions reached indicate that the unstated culture has as much of an impact on employees as do the written and verbalized messages and philosophies. Furthermore, leadership styles have a great bearing on developing, shaping, and maintaining the internal climate. Transformative methods have begun in an effort to bring about a healthier and more successful internal culture. It is recommended Ihat the search continue for a process of change that allows for the incorporation of new insights, without threatening the loss of those traditional values and beliefs that enhance the climate and success of an organization.
