The final project consisted of researching a collection of picture postcards of Joplin, Missouri, and organizing a portion of this collection into an exhibition at the Dorothea B. Hoover Museum in Joplin. The exhibition was held from October 22 through December 10, 1983.
The thesis is divided into two parts--the exhibition and the catalog. The section on the exhibition describes the project from the initial organization of the postcard collection through the details of its installation. For the thesis, a catalog was written to theoretically accompany the exhibition, although it was not published. It was designed to serve as an illustrated guide to the exhibition, and provided a brief history of postcards and supplemental information on the individual cards. The catalog is included in its entirety and in a format that would have been used in publication.
