Abstract
The research study presented in this article was directed towards individuals currently practicing BDSM (Bondage and Domination, Domination and Submission, Sadism and Masochism). The scope of the research study was to find if there is a correlation between BDSM and engagement in criminal activity, and if so, whether it is was prior to beginning BDSM practice, or whether the aggressive element of BDSM leads one to criminal activity. The study then incorporated the investigative technique of psychological autopsy. This process would assist the investigator in determining whether an equivocal death scene was accidental or homicide. Due to the study revealing a negative correlation between BDSM and criminal activity, the investigator may gear the investigation towards accidental death while utilizing the process of the psychological autopsy to uncover specific traits of the victim.
