Abstract

A qualitative study was conducted to show how streetball has evolved into a subculture of basketball, its effects on the inner city athletes who play it, and their experiences, positive or negative, during their college transition, athletically and academically. The results were gathered via questionnaire in an attempt to gain personal experiences from each Division I player assessed. The results showed that the streetball style of play displayed by these athletes could determine positive or negative experiences athletically, which directly effects their experiences academically.
