dc.description.abstract | Anxiety is a common mental health issue faced by many people. Equine-facilitated counselling (EFC) presents a promising alternative for people who may not respond well to more traditional forms of therapy for the treatment of anxiety. This literature review describes animal-assisted therapy and EFC, with a focus on specific factors that may be at play in reducing and managing anxiety in clients. Implications for research and practice are explored, along with an account of the author's reflections. | |
