Abstract

The purpose of this Master's Project was to challenge assumptions and promote communication and problem solving through two preliminary communication strategies used before creating an exhibition: to clarify terms and exhibition development processes, to develop a preliminary communication strategy list. The study of terms and exhibition development processes enables exhibition developers to recognize the importance of clarifying both vocabulary and process roles at the onset of the project to avoid problems later on. The communication strategy list is a strategic preliminary planning tool for exhibition developers in museums, science centers, zoos, and aquariums of all sizes. It assists in coordinating collective exhibition development with other museums or exhibition consultants and developing competitive fundraising proposals.
