dc.description.abstract | The intent of this research study was to answer the question: What are the experiences of first born and non-first born Latino English language learners in an elementary setting? This study was conducted by looking at the correlation between the California English Language Development Test (CELDT) scores of first born and non-first born Latino English language learners. Six fourth-grade students' parents were interviewed on their students English language development, education, acculturation, and parental involvement. All data obtained was pertinent to the population studied. An analysis of CELDT scores and interviews indicated that other than the experience of learning English as a second language, first born and non-first born Latino English language learners had similar experiences in an elementary setting. | |
